BENEATH THE WOMB VEIL

Mon, Jan 5, 2015 8:00pm - Fri, May 1, 2015 9:00pm:

The New Orleans Pharmacy Museum will host an exhibition of artists and performers as well as “Position of Birth" - a panel discussion on the contemporary status of birthwork in Louisiana, featuring a spectrum of birth attendants and "Midwifery/Obstetrics" - a museum exhibition on the practices and intersections of midwifery and the emerging field of obstetrics in the 19th century.

The Cachet Art and Culture Program is a collaboration between artists and educators which aims to strengthen the intersections of culture, health and healing and to provide a space for exchange and interaction between individuals, the community and the institution. The Pharmacy Museum is a space of historic medical significance and New Orleans is a city with a vibrant, active art culture - The Cachet Program intends to blend past and present, fact and fantasy, medicine and magic to concoct new understandings of history, health, and the collective spirit.
